Two cops have to work together to bring down the Yakuza, while trying to protect a beautiful woman.
Detective Chris Kenner was orphaned as a child as his father was in the service and was killed and lived in Japan. Now he is on the trail of ruthless Yakuza leader named Yoshido, who helped establish a small Japanese area in Los Angeles and is now running a drug ring disguised as a brewery. However, Kenner must team up with a Japanese-American detective named Johnny Murata, and he also must protect a witness named Minako who would testify against Yoshido. But what Kenner will soon discover that he will be in a lot more than what he bargained for.
Its too bad Brandon Lee died. I would really like to see more of his action, I know he has better movies. But I think him and Jet li or him and Jackie Chan would be awesome.

I'm not a big fan of Dolph Lundgren. But him and Brandon were great together and he does have some good martial arts talents. This was the first Brandon Lee movie I have seen as Enter The Dragon was the first and only Bruce movie I have seen. Brandon Lee is a great wise ass with Dolph Lundgren as the serious samurai cop. This is the first buddy cop movie with martial arts and comedy before Rush Hour. Whicch I though would be better than this but I was wrong.

Dolph Lundgren's sword fight was great as was Brandon Lee's fighting though Bruce would ground him for life if he saw how he moved away from Bruce's tradition of less shooting, more fighting. This is a run-of-the-mill late 80s/early 90s action flick that isn't particularly well done on any level. In fact it's quite awful. I wasn't expecting Oscar material, but the writing is cheese-bad. What's worse though is for an action flick, the fight choreography is surprisingly amateur and poor. I don't know how many different fight scenes I counted - at least 10 where the director catches the complete whiff on camera. This is a quick money maker with no redemptive value, and only a couple of one-liners worth a chuckle by Dolph and Brandon. It's written by Western Asia-philes in an attempt to be both smug and informative, but really is neither. 4/10 for a few one-liners and the beautiful bodies on parade - incidentally Dolph looks juiced out big time.

The Unrated Version runs approx. 20 seconds longer than the original R-Rated Theatrical Version and features some brief moments of nudity and some mildly prolonged scenes of violence. This Unrated Version is not available in the States but in several other countries, e.g. Germany.

The British Version is based on the Unrated Version but censored in three scenes in which a butterfly knife is used. Again, one can find a detailed comparison with pictures over here.
