I played the game in early access and returned it for a number of standard reasons 1. locomtion 2. lack of ragdoll physics when defeating enemys. Sadly neither of these things have been implented correctly. To the DEVS I very much hope that you will make these corrections as your game has potential but these issues are tremendously impeding the success and potential of the game. If the corrections are made I will gladly keep the game and if not I will be returning it . again. Also, I would be more than happy to help bring the game to standard if you would like as I play a great deal of VR and know precisely what needs to be corrected.. One of the best games I've ever played, most bugs already fixed and dev is constantly adding content and polish current game. You feel like you are in a real RPG. Get before price increases with all future content. Many hours of gameplay available.. this is a decent game, and more so if youre into magic and the like. the spell system has tremendous potential but i feel it needs more visual and sound feedback to show youre this powerful wizaed. also it should a warning to how scary the game could be as its more like a horror game as well.. Left-Hand Path is a wonderful example of the endless possibilities of virtual reality. It is inspired by the Dark Souls series but clearly manages to carry its' own weight by introducing a highly efficient spellcasting system. Using the motion controllers to trace runes, sigils and protective circles in the air you cast an assortment of spells and rituals that will help you explore the ruins, dungeons and deserted cities but - more importantly - wreak havoc on the many different creatures you will run into on your travels. Spellcasting is truly fun and exciting! Trying to shoot down an enemy which is slowly creeping up on you, while frantically trying to make the movements for the correct spell is really an unforgettable experience. The game uses a great lighting system, has superb voice acting and generally oozes atmosphere and although the graphics of some of the envirements lack in detail, the world is filled with interesting scolls to read, NPC's to barter with and complex puzzles to solve. There is an enticing upgrade system, which uses the games' currency (Husks) to increase the effect and potency of your spells and rituals. These choices really feel interesting and offer more than just a simple increase in damage or efficiency. Movement plays a big part in the game. Thus, it is a standing, room-scale experience. You will dodge arrows, crawl through secret passages on hands and knees and make big movements for rituals and spells. I had to upgrade to a third sensor to get the most out of this. With only a front facing setup you will most likely not be able to experience the room scale environment and will frequently run into immersion-breaking stuttering. Overall, this is a fantastic RPG experience that should be played by anyone who is interested in the genre. It is a difficult (and at times quite frightening) game but never unfair. Finally, the developers (a small studio) are amazingly friendly and supportive. I've ran into a few problems during the game but they quickly helped me find my way again by giving advice. They are also very much open for feedback and have used this in the past to improve the game. Now if only they would give me a spell of instant wraithslaying so I could skip that horrendous (in a very good way) deserted village.. This game is right up there with Vanishing Realms. It's the scariest game I have ever played and the graphics and sound are excellent. The developer is active on the forums and is always polite and willing to help. Really wish there were more Vive games of this quality.. This game is great for any fan of magic combat/dark souls. Here are my favorite features of the game: Magic based combat (quite a number of spells that you have to find around in books around the environment) Casting spells by using gestures (excellent use of the Vive - you trace runes in the air with one hand and aim with your magic staff with the other, SUPER immersive) Exploration (Tons of books from which you piece together the story, books with spells to add to your arsenal etc) Leveling up spells (You get to pick which spell you want to improve) Rituals - (To go along with quick spells you perform slower rituals that protect you from spirits/open closed gates/provide you with a compass etc). Teleportation OR traditional movement - (Like most Vive games, you can teleport but here you can also use traditional movement though it was added last minute and is a bit wonky for now. Best part is you don't have to select which you want, you can use both at the same time). Very active developer - (The dev is very active, listens to suggestions, implemented traditional movement after people asked, patched up bugs quickly, etc). Here's why I get a lot of Dark Souls vibes from the game: You collect souls from fallen enemies and use them to upgrade abilities You drop souls upon death and can collect them back if you return to where you died Dying returns you to previous skull location (bonfire) and enemies come back General atmosphere - The game is dark and bleak, I love it. I'm not saying the game is perfect, there are certainly things that could be added (inventory, cooldowns, interaction between spells and items in the world etc) but this has been one of the most immersive Vive games I've tried. It's certainly the only one in my 50+ VR library to make me feel like an awesome mage (besides Waltz of the Wizard but that's totally different). I can't wait to go back and see what's around the next corner.. Played on 11.25.16. Not very good. Obtuse magic commands .
