First off, stunning graphics! I can’t compare to the first two titles in this series because I never played them; I liked the storyline and stealth-action style gameplay. For me, it took about 12 hours to complete the story mode while doing some side missions. Maybe one day I’ll go back and complete this 100% 😅. I really liked the previous two games but didn't care much for this one. It feels a lot shorter than the last two parts and kinda lacking in the content department.
The story is meh, the gameplay is more of the same except just less of it. Feel a lot like a DLC in some ways. It might be worth it if you are a completionist type who enjoys collecting everything on the map, which I am not.
It's one of those middle of the road games that that I'd recommend IF you liked the previous games AND the game is on sale.. I was a lil dissapointed in the rise of tomb raider but tbh this game improved alot more than ppl think like the experience and world of the game was so much more diversed and graphics were so on point it was such a serreal experience for me than the games before and the combat style felt alot better for some reason tho i wish they added something like the baba yaga DLC cus i rly rly enjoyed the DLC more than anything in the first and second games of tomb raider ,and i felt like we finally met lara on more of a personal and emotional level it rly did hit me especially in that break down scene she had .

but also the storyline is kinda repetitive which i get why ppl found it a lil boring ? tho thats lara's life thats what she does so they cant change the plot wholesome tho as i said before they added a better emotional experience and more sneak into her past life and lara was acting more of a human being rather than this basic tough dull video games characters we mostly see and i guess there was some tiny lil glitches if you wanna call it that but nothing big i had no problem playing the game easily on a hard mode its so easy to move past those and getting used to the controls more, well also the tombs were a lil easier than the ones before especially that i had no hints solving them they warent that brilliant or a gud upgrade than the series before.

ok i will shut up now bye <3. Was already an underwhelming experience but I figured I'd pick this back up and try and play it only to find out a patch late last year totally ****ed up the controls. Searched high and low online but none of the recommended fixes work. So now using a PS4 controller is frustrating to the point I just uninstalled the game. The circle button is select instead of X. In game the X button simultaneously opens the map and makes Laura jump. I went in under the steam controller options in the Steam library but no matter what configuration I select it's still messed up. I thought the point of a patch was to actually patch up flaws not create new ones.. Very immersive experience, really brings you into the story. Good game mechanics. If you like story-based games you would enjoy this game.. Should you buy it :

~Short Answer - Sure , if you are a Tomb raider fan or you are interested in the genre.

~Long Answer - The game is great and has lots of good sides , but also bad ones . The quality of this game is surely great , we are very lucky to have games like this one .
Everything from the graphics to gameplay is awesome except some flaws regarding the actual fights ; this game seems more focused on exploration than his predecessors , which might be valued better for others but not particularly me .
The game feels a bit repetitive but overall it has good graphics , the music is amazing , the exploration/puzzles are interesting. A solid 8.5/10 in my opinion.
. "EXPERIENCE LARA'S DEFINING MOMENT AS SHE BECOMES..." a Mary Sue.
This game is nowhere near as good as the first 2 games.
-The game looks good. That's about as far as it goes.
-The writing is weird. The characters don't act like real human beings, reacting strangely to things that real people would react much differently.
-Before you buy this game, know that THEY CHANGED WRITERS. IT WAS ALSO MADE BY A DIFFERENT DEVELOPER TEAM. The writer of the last games is gone. The new writers couldn't fill her void. The old writer wasn't perfect, but the writing was decent and didn't have as much self contradiction as this new game.
Lara has pretty much one character flaw, always rushing headfirst into the next adventure, but this flaw isn't huge and doesn't really impact the story too much.
-She saw some messed up things, and doesn't show enough of how it's effected her mentally.
-Literally every second spent in Paititi felt weird. There was something off about it. they left prisoners completely unguarded in the middle of the friggn town. Etzli didn't even cry at the death of his mother ffs. The serpent guard for some reason don't see anything strange about how a BRITISH WHITE WOMAN they DONT KNOW is suddenly in the ranks of their MALE AZTEC GUARD. They just accept it. There's also like 3 character models for the serpent guard. I thought the same guy kept showing up, but nope.
- the boss fight at the end was really weak. and i mean seriously weak. They build up to this POWER OF THE GOD KUKULKAN, but instead you get to fight this annoying excuse of a villain covered in scrambled eggs. Lara's already a total mary sue, so why not have her fight a giant guy hurling fireballs or some shet?
-Where did she learn to kill a whole army's worth of copy pasted priests? did her goddamn rock climbing instructor teach her? Come on.
The most off putting thing about this was how there was a weird disclaimer at the start. What does being a diverse group of ethnicities and sexual orientations have to do with the game? That's just weird.
About the combat, it's pretty neat to do the Rambo mud wall thing, but aside from that it just feels kind of strange. The new herbs are kind of a strange addition, too. Why add witcher potions to a tomb raider game?
All in all, not worth 100$, i wish i never bought it.. This game was a mixed bag for me. Some parts were good, some were meh. Some mechanics worked better in some places.

tl;dr version: Fun game with some flaws, but some really cool moments! It is worth playing for the fans of the trilogy, and I think people who refused to play the reboot might want to give this one a go. The most Tomb raider-ish of the 3 imo. If you're new to the trilogy, i recommend starting from the 2013 reboot. I got it 50% and I recommend it based on that

Since this is a reboot series, I think there will always be comparisons. So I'll compare to both the OG, and the previous two in the reboot series:

Compared to originals: I think this is the closest we've gotten to them in the trilogy. Lara is finally somewhat stronger and more confident, and goes prepared (although she does have to start from zero a couple of times). Tombs and Crypts, there are a lot of those and I think are best parts of the game.

Compared to reboot and Rise: It takes a lot from those as expected, and adds some mechanics in climbing and combat, I enjoyed this one more in that regard. But other things suffer like the story, narrative and pacing. The detail and lore are amazing, but idk it felt more like a documentary than an exciting story for me.

My highlights:
- Really pretty graphics!
- Water and swimming felt good.
- Custumizable difficulity: Individually choose if you want combat, platforming or puzzles to be more challenging.
- I enjoyed solving puzzles while all the assitance was turned off.
- Many beautiful vistas made me just stand there and appreciate, PLUS you get a Photo Mode this time, and I had a lot of fun with that.
- Did I mention Photo Mode?
- There were less combat encounters and I actually enjoyed them, while they were my least favorite part in the previous two. Lara is scary in this game lol

My critique:
- I mentioned pretty graphics, yes, but often too dark, and increasing brightness will make other areas too bright! No torch like in previous games, there is a flash light, but you can't turn it on, only when Lara wants to. Idk why they did that?
- Platforming felt somewhat less solid, and combined with very dark areas, it was frustrating at times, and sometimes tedious.
- Too many limitations and things that get in the way. Sometimes you're stuck using a bow, sometimes you can only wear certain outfits, too many of those sections where Lara squezzes herself through gaps in walls or crawling under rocks.
- Fishes attacking while swimming is just annoying. You can at least fight the eel.
- You get outfits by clearing Crypts or buying them from merchants, they provide stat bonuses, but they're just basically peices of rags and just look ugh... I get it, it is supposed to be rough and realistic, but that is about the only realistic thing in the game. Like come on give me cool looking armour I want to work for and wear! The one with the feathers looks cool though.
- I've already talked about the story. Can't really put my finger on it, but I wasn't really invested, Lara still felt a bit lost, Jonah was being useless as usual. The best character was the kid imo.
- QTEs, chase sequences, running sequences were my least favorite part in the game! Since platforming can already be a bit of trial and error (I was playing with all assistance turned off), those were really annoying.

In conclusion:
It is an okay game, with some great moments! And some bad moments. As someone who has enjoyed both original and reboot TR game, I enjoyed this too and I think it is worth playing for both parties.

I hear this is the last in the trilogy, and my hope, and I am a bit biased, whatever dev team responsible is to pull off a CAPCOM on us and get back or get to the good old Lara! The classy, the professional, the gymnast Lara. And no it is not about the boobs like many people assume whenever OG Lara is brought up. Think of it as a case of DmC Dante (Donte) VS DMC Dante.. The worst part in my opinion. I went through the previous few times. I don’t want to play this part again, I finished it with great difficulty. It is not that difficult, it just is not interesting. Everything is too monotonous from part to part. I do not recommend buying at all. Look better at the older parts.
