I got this game on sale and I feel like I have to recommend it as it did keep my attention for ten or so hours. Not that it takes that long to beat for most I'd suspect, but I'm not really good at puzzle games and I spent a lot of time getting into the story. The gameplay is kind of a "minesweeper" thing, you "decrypt" files by solving puzzles and unlock non linear texts that make up the story. The game touts that these are based off of real texts and I'd believe it, it feels like a natural exchange complete with spelling errors and emojis. Occasionally you get messages through a chat feature that act as a B plot I suppose. Although I liked the story, I felt they could've done more with it. I think the pacing was a little slow and the ending was kind of ambiguous (not that that's a bad thing, I just wanted a little more.) I initially had a problem running it on my resolution (2560x1080), I couldn't see the cursor and had to change the resolution in my monitor's settings. The presentation of the game is slick, I like the green screen "hacker" look to it (complete with CRT tracking effects.) I also like the sound, the click and typing noises are satisfying and the music is gloomy and ambient (kind of like "Music For Airports.") Overall, it was worth the few dollars I paid for it, its not amazing (and I'm not really sure it deserves the "horror" tag,) but if you like puzzle games and you want one with a nice atmosphere and a weird narrative, it might be for you.. Fun little puzzles and an intriguing, if disappointingly cryptic, story. Slight grammatical oddities in the English version that make dialogue seem unnatural, but I apply a curve to this, as this developer is not from an English speaking country and meaning is not generally lost. If you like Sudoku-esque puzzles and Her Story-esque storytelling, it's worth it at sale price of <3, as of my purchase.. Really like these kind of games. Not an ordinary game but very good. Great story, and puzzels.. No, it's not a game. It's transcript of one's online conversation and pack of primitive puzzles. Here is whole game: you are asked to "crack" access to some files. "crack" is solving a puzzle. You may read those files. They contain transcript of chats. That. Is. It. Full stop. Wanna hacking-like experience? Check Hacknet or TIS-100, but not this.. need 2 parts (i deg)?. at the beginning i couldn't figure out the login credentials and it was frustrating tbh. couldn't think that it was that obvious. other than that, great puzzle game.. big Von Trier vibes from the conversations.. Initially I thought there might be some jumpscares in this game, however there were none of them. Whew! Story is slightly creepy but interesting and puzzles were good enough to keep playing.. Are you looking for a puzzle game that really challenges your wit, while feeding your curiosity? Then "Sorry, James" is probably the title you are searching for. And you won't regret adding it to your library if you choose to do so. At first, the game seems pretty simple: you are a hacker and some superior from your job is asking you to decrypt some files. The decryption puzzles follow a sudoku style pattern, which doesn't feel difficult on the initial files. However, this game's difficulty escalates rather quickly, adding new mechanisms to the puzzles that make it harder and harder to decrypt the files as you play. This might be a little frustrating, but it ensures hours of gameplay and helps the whole suspense/thriller aspect of the title to feel more realistic. Also, this is a narrative-based indie title. If you are the type of person who prefers storytelling over loads of action and mesmerizing graphics, then you'll also enjoy this game, because it has an interesting plot going on and the way of finding out about it is absolutely unique.
