A really cool, stylish, fast-paced, top-down shooter. Would reccommend.. Why bother having a slowmotion mechanic if you are punished for using it? Otherwise sure, it's ok. Like a weaker (but definitely very pretty) version of Hotline Miami. Get it on sale. If they introduce more weapons/melee then I would probably recommend it.. Its not like what i thought it would be!. 8.5/10 I had an absolute blast with the Hong Kong Massacre, despite a few irritations. By the end, I found myself taking stock of enemy walking patterns and positions, so I could ensure they'd all be in my line of sight when I activated slo-mo and dived in, dodging beneath shotgun blasts and evading rifle fire. It's exhilarating to play, watching the final enemy of each level sail backwards in a blood-splattered mess, coupled with the solid and mood-enhancing soundtrack. Developer VRESKI makes many smart decisions here: red arrows appear on the sides of the screen to direct you to enemy locations (double red arrows indicate an enemy in close proximity), and enemies typically refrain from shooting until they are visible on your screen. These eliminate some of the biggest irritations common to the genre (here's looking at you, Hotline Miami 2). However, there were a few aspects of the game I can't praise as highly. First of all, the subtitled dialogue is riddled with errors, which dampened the professional-looking production of the package as a whole. Secondly, I can't say I enjoyed any of the boss fights. They were a very small percentage of the game, but each boss was easily dispatched by mostly remaining stationary and peppering them repeatedly in slo-mo. The only other issue was that the combination of slo-mo and your dive is perhaps a bit TOO powerful, at least on the standard difficulty. However, the game at its core is a power fantasy, so I can't say this bothered me too much. Although I haven't played the hard difficulty yet, I'd imagine that a slower recharge rate on your slo-mo meter could easily balance things out. If you enjoy top-down shooters or games featuring "bullet time" (I'm an enormous fan of both), I think you'll find this to be a special game. Although many found the game to be too short, I've been pursuing the "perfect aim" challenges for each level and may go back and play the game on a higher difficulty as well. I bought the game during the recent sale for $15, and absolutely felt that I got my money's worth.. Hotline Miami Meets Jon Woo.. 35. I expected more. This is a clone of Hotline Miami in almost every way, but with poor gamepad support.. I tried my best to like the game. I like the style, the action, the bullet time. But its way too difficult. this includes the controls (tried only with gamepad). As an action star I wanna maw through enemies not getting shot every other second. They should include different fifficulty levels, but probably then you could finish each level after a couple of minutes.
