About This Game

ECHO is a Third-Person Science Fiction Adventure.

After a century in stasis the girl En arrives at her destination: A Palace out of legend, a marvel of the old civilization eons gone, still awaiting its first human occupants. Out here, using forgotten technologies, she hopes to bring back a life that shouldn’t have been lost. But nothing could prepare her for what she’ll face in the ancient halls below.

The experience starts as a character driven journey of discovery, but as it unfolds it evolves into something altogether more punishing. The Palace studies everything you do, everything you are, to use it against you. Gameplay revolves around stealth, action and manipulation, as you face off against the ultimate enemy: Yourself.

THE WAY YOU PLAY SHAPES THE GAME
In ECHO everything has consequence: As you try to wield its magical technologies it becomes apparent that the Palace has a will of its own… It creates “Echoes” – exact copies of you in every way – that behave like you and only do the things you do. So the way you play the game shapes your enemy. If you sprint, soon the Echoes will get faster. If you sneak, they will get stealthier. If you shoot, they will learn to shoot back. The game constantly reacts to your every choice and input.

LEARNING MECHANICS
The Palace "reboots" every so often, resulting in a blackout. This blackout-cycle is the rhythm at which the Echoes get updated with your latest behavior, learning and unlearning from your actions. During the blackout the palace is blind, giving you the freedom to act without consequence. This is the time to run and gun and do all the things you don’t want the Echoes to learn.
The experience is one of being up against your own choices from the last blackout-cycle, giving you a way of shaping the game from cycle to cycle. So no matter if you prefer to go stealth or action one thing is certain, you need to keep your wits about you if you want to survive the Palace.

RICH STORY AND ATMOSPHERE
At the heart of ECHO is the story. The game starts as a narrative experience, focused on En and her journey into the Palace and her past. Who is she and what is her connection to the Palace? Who is this man that she needs to revive, and what was the circumstances surrounding his death? Slowly these things are uncovered as she descends into the dark halls below. a09c17d780

A few minutes in and i knew this was gonna be one of my alltime favs.
Echos features phenomenal world building and voice acting and the art... oh my the art

Ive truly been desensitised to horror at this point but echo tackles it in such a unique way that i cant help getting the creeps 11\/10 wish there was more. It starts off really cool and then turns into a repeating collectathon of blue spheres. A very unique experience.

It's a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to content - the first hour is heavy on the narrative and the exploration, while the rest is pretty much a stealth game with a twist. Because whatever you do in the current cycle, the enemies will also do as well in the next one, you have to consider your path and use the least "ways" possible, f. ex. in this cycle only opening doors, only jumping down, instead of all at once. The upside is that they also unlearn whatever you DIDN'T do in a given cycle. It's... unique, as I said.

Is it fun though? It's difficult. It's very engaging, you're constantly on the edge of your seat (warn your housemates - my fiancee made me jump several times just by approaching from behind). Violence is pretty much never the answer, because if you use your gun, they will too. And there's a lot of them. And they respawn every cycle.

The difficulty wouldn't be so bothersome if the game wasn't so repetitive. It's not like Dark Souls, where you're dying all the time, but to a different abomination this time; no - once the enemies start looking and acting like you, it's pretty much going to stay that way. The environments are almost identical, and there are no twists. You just plow through very samey thing over and over. It's a major flaw of the game, but the freshness of the concept and the excellent story almost make it bearable.

The production values are high; the game looks great, feels great, the voice acting, the writing, all REALLY good. The story makes you wade through the frustratingly difficult later parts of the game. I played on Normal - maybe Easy would be a bit more bearable?

It's certainly not for everyone. But it's worth a go - and satisfying to beat.. Nice concept - seems like a decent story, which keeps you guessing, so I like the feel of the game
Not sure why some think this is nice graphics - its the same, reused elements to the extent that it appears like a labyrinth
Gameplay is very interesting - but like the graphics it quickly becomes same, same, same

And now I'm uninstalling - can't find a reason to proceed.... This game is kind of a mixed bag. I'll start with the good stuff.

-The graphics are OUTSTANDING. If you take the time to admire the environment, the amount of detail that went into the
textures, lighting etc. is better than some AAA games.

-The combat isn't just a brain dead "fire until you have no ammo" for once and requires some strategy and stealth. The AI also has a unique way of fighting that I've never seen in a game before (I won't spoil it.)

-The soundtrack is very nice (couldn't find any other words.)

-The controls are very responsive and you can quickly execute a number of actions.

As for the bad stuff...I couldn't really find anything to complain about except the story. I finished the game within 8 hours, but that's because I rushed through some levels and didn't collect some items (which I regret now.) At the end of the 8 hours and the final credit scene closed I felt a little incomplete. However, I still would recommend this game, as this game is unique and is a good expierience.

TLDR: Everything about this game is amazing and if you don't mind having a somewhat incomplete ending, I would heavily recommend this game.
