SHIPBUILDING

A wide selection of modules gives you near countless ways to design your ship. Large dreadnaught class ships may be powerful, but become very slow and especially vulnerable in ion nebulas. A speedy spaceship can kite the enemy and evade most weapons.

STRATEGY

The enemies in your path are quite challenging. You can pause the game and identify the weakest points of each enemy. Concentrate your weapons on a specific module to take out the engines, weapons or repair stations to weaken your enemy. Learn from your mistakes and add countermeasures to your ship to have a better outcome in the next battle.

EXPLORATION

Different factions inhabit different star systems. Based on the design of your ship you can choose to avoid the enemies you aren´t prepared for. Space travel takes time and traveling from one star system to another may take decades. Over time your crew will age, mature and reveal their needs and thoughts. d859598525

While the concept for this game is excellent I can't recommend it for one reason: Not enough content.

There are only a few (~10) randomly generated events that exist at all, with each system being a random combination of them + 5 story events which don't scale with difficulty progression. There are 3 factions of enemies with different styles of fighting, and allies that are just copies of one of the enemies but friendly. The amount of available modules for your ship is decent, but not huge, and you're limited to a 5x5 box of modules whose positioning is only relevant for shielding and nothing else. Also, making the same choice in the same event will produce the same guaranteed result more often than not.

The ability to use both RTS and WASD modes is good, but somewhat buggy and missing useful functionality: In WASD mode you lose the ability to use different weapons independently and using module targeting in RTS screws up your defense turrets for some reason (almost certainly a bug)

If it goes heavily on sale maybe pick it up for a few bucks but that's it. Not a ton of replayability here despite being a roguelike.. Feels like a slight variation of Space Run, but instead you move the ship ...instead of spending time replacing, repairing, and turning towers.

Overall a ton of fun, but unpolished.

\u2022 Some battles begin with a text box in the way while the enemy is beating on you.
\u2022 When a mission is done, and you click to close text boxes or exit, your ship annoying fires in the background. Didn't see options to bind other mouse buttons or keys.
\u2022 The speed at which crew members die is a bit fast. I never seem to miss them after they're gone \u263a. I like this game but would like to see more in the way of story line, missions and more weapons and engine upgrades to keep things fresh and challenging. Love the kamikaze ships don't get rid of them ! ( They keep you on your toes ) Speed and fire power are life and looking at the arena like A boxing ring will will help over come heavy odds and allow you to catch your breath make repairs and get ready for the next round in A some what neutral corner but keep you eyes peeled and be ready to move!! Having problems saving screen shot to post but other wise fun game. Still experimenting .......... : ). Seems interesting. Fun to start. Quickly overwhelmed by monotony and ridiculously uneven contests with no hope of success. After 10 systems or so, 50 ships vs 1? Please. Throw tons of engines on and kite the enemy to death, slowly, over and over again.
