Suprisingly excellent Leisure Suit Larry game - would have been worthy of being called Leisure Suit Larry 8, and I don't say that lightly. Great music, excellent voice acting with Jan Rabson reprising his roll as our loveable loser, excellent art style, very respectful of Larry's liniage.the list goes on. I'm 40 years old and grew up with Larry so I was as skeptical as anyone when I learned about 'Wet dreams don't dry' (I still don't know about that title though), especially hearing that Al Lowe wasn't involved. But seriously, give the game a chance. Yes Larry looks different but honestly with Jan voicing Larry so well you'll fall in love with this new look quicker than you might expect. if you enjoyed classic Larry at all in the past, give this one a shot. A fresh, smart new take on ol' Larry Laffer which I never thought I'd see (or would work) in today's social climate. The only thing I don't get is why Al Lowe wasn't atleast onboard as consultant? Regardless, a wonderful surpise and a fantastic job by all involved.. For a Larry game without Al Lowe part of the team, this was a well done game.. For poops sake this game is well done. Pretty much everything Al Lowe put into the originals is represented in this new version despite Al not being apart of it. Do I wish Al was apart of it? Big time. but if someone never told me I wouldn't know the difference. Everything just fits together nicely. From the artwork, to the flow/pace, to the entirely pointless nonsense Larry goes through to constantly miss out. It all falls together so far the full 7.5 hours I've been playing on it. You're also getting a lengthly game from what I've heard from others who have finished so it's worth every penny of the price it's being offered for. This isn't a 5 hours and you're done type of game. It is linear, though. So I dunno about replayablity, but like any adventure game like it in the past that's kinda par for the course. And this game will be replayable on that level for years to come. This genuinely feels like a continuation of the original series games. I never would have anticipated it from a German company with no direction from the original creator but they've truly nailed it. And the last minute call to get the original voice actor (Jan) to play Larry.that was huge. After hearing the original choice for Larry in videos I would have had a hard time ever pulling the triggor on buying the game.or at the very least I would have likely turned all spoken audio off and just read the text like in the past. But yeah, the switch to the real voice actor was a clincher. Had to play. Some don't like the artwork change on Larry. honestly after a short while you really kinda forget about it and fall in line. And to me, it doesn't really matter. It's like comic books. There's always so many different artists with their own interpretations. It's no different to me to see Larry in this form. Excellent work. I strongly suggest you play this game if you're a true fan of the traditional adventure games. Any Larry fan who doesn't have a stick up their butt because Al's not apart of this (which, I am too sometimes to be honest) is going to enjoy the crap out of it.. The new LSL adventure is a very enjoyable adventure game and a suitable return to form for the old hero. Although some of the humor is less subtle than the original Al Lowe adventures, it works for the most part and most of the puzzles are enjoyable. Some of the gay scenes feel a bit off-character for Larry, but it's understandable that the developers would want to cover this topic in this day and age. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and hope that the game is commercially succesful so that we can have more Larry adventures in the future.. Well at first I was wondering how it was gonna turn out, but after a while, it really blew my mind. I know a lot of people may not enjoy this new style, but give it a try. I would honestly recommend this game and even hope that it'll be played by some youtubers, especially the game grumps.. I think these guys did a great job and did Larry right! The best move was getting the original voice actor. Just wouldn't of worked without him. Some great humor in this game and callbacks. Not all the jokes land but even some of the worst were still enough to make me chuckle. Some funny WTF moments as well. Some criticism I have are with the puzzles. Most arn't bad but there are some where I would of never gotten without just dumb luck. I even had to look up one because I had no clue and when I saw what you had to do, I would of never of guess it. Overall if you were ever a Larry fan this is a game worth getting.. Pros: -Gameplay: If you're a fan Al Lowe's point and click games, then this game by Assemble Entertainment will make you happy. It stays true to the original in terms of how items are executed, merged, picked up. How you interact with characters work fine as well. -Comedy- The jokes don't always land, but if you're a fan of the original, then you'll be happy with it. Some of the jokes include things like Tinder dating, Siri, San Fransisco's housing market, Donald Trump, Apple, etc. -Sound: Music and Voice actors are top notch in the game. Definitely a pleasure to listen to. -Animation: The 2d animation moves well. Nothing great but not enough to hurt the game. -No Micro Tranaction: I think there's one joke about it in the game, but yes, this game does not have any predatory game practices. Thanks CrazyBunch and Assemble Entertainment for this. Cons: -No Sex: I understand the franchis isn't about it, but after playing the game House Party by Eek Games, this feels way more PG friendly than I like it to be. I wish this would move forward to more mature content like nudity, sexual transactions, sex gameplay, etc. Instead we get some censorship, a ton of tease, and almost no payoff. Phyallic objects are why it gets the nudity label. It's a game that heavily relies on its crued comedy and not the mature content. -Story: The basics of the story is that you're after this woman named Faith, a top exec from Prune. Why? I don't know. I'm not even sure there's a joke behind Larry's obsession for Faith. I don't want to talk about Larry's time jump because that is never fully explained. ever. The story comes off as linear and ends with no payoff. -Characters- The people of New Lost Wages are one dimensional characters of the stereotypes they represents. Once Larry progresses to a certain point with them, they completely disappear from the story. -Art: This is a personal opinion. I didn't like the artistic choice of the game. From Larry's design to many of the design choices for most of the ingame charcters, it just didn't appeal to me at all. Also, it seems like the images looks less impressive the larger your screen is. Nari's design is probably the one I liked the most. -Quest tracking- There isn't any. This hurts the game as you'll sometimes find yourself forgetting what the quest is. -Item management- I think this could have been improved. Currently the item management is just a mess of items tracked by your PiPhone. -Price: At 29.99 usd. there's just not enough story, content, gameplay, etc to justify the pricetag. -Replay value: none. -Multiplayer: none. At the end, I recommend the game to any fan of the series. I mean if you're here then you're likely a fan. If you're not, I don't recommend it.. Great point and click adventure, with humor and everything faithful to the old series!
