This is one of Godzilla's greatest movies EVER. This was supposed to be Godzilla's final movie and it would have been a heckuva finish to this series. Akira Ifukube's music is incredible and some of the best in his career. The SPFX are great and are some of Koichi Kawakita's best. the plot is great and is one of the best of the series. Notice how I'm using the word "best" a lot? Mechagodzilla, Rodan, Godzilla, and Baby Godzilla all look great and they look realisticpossible. This is by far Godzilla's BEST Heisei movie ever and is one of my personal favs. I love this movie and I give it a perfect 10 stars. if there is one other great Godzilla movie, it's Godzilla Vs. Gigan. Fans who love Godzilla will LOVE Godzilla VS. Mechagodzilla.
I guess when you have a stampeding sixty foot lizard continually destroying parts of your city, it's worth the cost to create a big machine to combat it. Of course, I don't quite get why you build a big clumsy thing that looks like the opposition. It has a high center of gravity and seems vulnerable to all of the Big G's attacks. What's amazing is the technology and weaponry that is brought to bear on the Japanese franchise. And, of course, it never works. Godzilla seems to be made of some sort of flesh, but nothing permeates him. He doesn't even get scorched. When we think he's dead he pops right back up. What a waste of time and effort. Perhaps a theme park could be built for him and he could go around knocking things over there. I've never quite understood the monster's motivation. He has been given a sort of human thought process, but if he is an animal, why does he bother to go where he goes and be so damned destructive. This left me kind of cold. It's a kid's movie of course and there is a lot of noise and explosions, so I can't criticize it that much. But at some point they all get so tiresome.

2) Extended footage of Godzilla destroying the Kyoto Oil Refinery,wellhis march on Kyoto city and the mesa plains and forest.

3) Extended shots of MechaGodzilla in his docking bay,wellflying over the forest.

4) Extended shots of the Japanese military surrounding Godzilla

5) Brief footage of Godzilla blasting the downed MechaGodzilla in their first fight.

6) During Kazuma Aoki's (Masahiro Takashima) training, there were at first set to also battle King Ghidorah and MothrawellGodzilla, via stock footage from the two previous films, but this was cut out to just Godzilla.

7) Extended footage of Aoki's training scenes Yes, kind of. Unlike most movies that have an black backdrop during the credits, this film shows Godzilla and Baby Godzilla swimming out to sea together, which last til the credits end. All Heisei Godzilla films had special footage that played during the credits.
